Dark Side of the Sun
I have always particularly liked this photograph. It came to me unexpectedly at the end of a photo trek in the early morning in a remote canyon of the Navajo territory. We had already spent two nights under the stars with Michael Fatali (aka Light Hunter), my master and brother in photography; still marked by the sight of the Milky Way in the clear Arizona sky of that August, and impressed by the vertiginous precipices that surrounded us.
"You should have a look here" said Michael, and the magic was revealed. There are almost 2 worlds that come together in this photograph, the rock already burned by the morning sun, which washes out the nuances; and just below, in the shadows, the remains of the night world with pastel tones that still linger for a moment and a sense of mystery that persists. Technically it was not easy to achieve this result, but it is a perfect illustration of the essence of light.
